Re: Lucas Paquetá
Teams have worked out that the way to neutralise the Paquetá threat is to get the ball out wide quick where he has to come to it. Than if he gets it, crowd him out or cut out his pass to any forward player who can do anything with the ball, which eliminates Soucek.

Odd isn’t it that Moyes still hasn’t seen it.

"Of course he's not spending 90 minutes on the left wing, no players stays in one position for a whole game, be he is playing left midfield and spends most of his time there. To make out it's any different is bizarre."

This.

Not sure you even need to be sat in the stadium live to realise this.

Re: Lucas Paquetá
fraser - Yep, all fair enough, also because Paqueta isn't a natural wide man he is naturally going to want to come inside more where he is used to playing, where say with Benny or Cornet that's their natural position so are more likely to stay out there. The obvious question is why Moyes doesn't see it, well he does of course, but has to fit in potato salad no matter what. I'll stick me neck out though and say I fancy we might see a change tonight, think Moyes has been hinting at it too after Palace.

Re: Lucas Paquetá
Manuel - of course that's true. But I'm over by the left hand corner flag and so many times we get the ball there's never an option there. Even if Emerson gets it he often has to turn back or come inside.. So we're predictable, and slow with it... We're easy to defend against we rarely open teams up.

JWP was over there Sunday when we scored the goal, we actually moved the ball quickly but we rarely do.

Re: Lucas Paquetá
fraser - Fair observation, but in reality how many wingers (if they still exist) or left/right sided midfielders stick wide all game, a bit of a thing of the past IMO, particularly since full backs started getting forward.

I'm not one to make excuses for players, but we have a fantastic central midfielder on our hands, one who could be unbelievable in the right team, system and playing style, and currently he's playing left midfield in a predominantly long ball defensive team. It's no fucking wonder his form has gone.

Re: Lucas Paquetá
He does roam about, then leaves nobody on the left. Comes looking for the ball.. We look totally unbalanced because of it..

Manuel 2:34 Thu Dec 7
Re: Lucas Paquetá
Chim - Would tend to agree, he tends to pop up all over, often passing to the other side or falling over. He isn't just stuck out left no matter how many times you read it on here (on average about 100 times a day)

Re: Lucas Paquetá
Cunt off Moyes all you like but watch Paqueta live and in the stadium and it's clear to see that although he's got an almost psychic relationship with Emerson he's free to roam around the whole midfield.

Almost every thing we do well at, he starts the move

Anyone here know why he wears the No.10 shirt?

Jesus. That's ground-breaking. Have you ever thought about a career as a football coach?

Another day, another Tell' classic.

Cue numerous posts telling everyone how he was a successful businessman who managed people, played football until he was 49 and has some coaching badges.

What a wally.

You'd think after getting pulled up so many times on here, that he'd start to FACT CHECK himself a bit by now.

Re: Lucas Paquetá
honestly Will, do you actually support west ham?

season we went down (his last with us), we had a number of injuries to key strikers - hence the desperate signing of Les Ferdinand in January.

PDC scored 9 goals in 18 league games. He was our top scorer in the league.
and you are asking why he played so much?

Eerie Descent 12:36 Thu Dec 7
Re: Lucas Paquetá
He's obviously lost his form, and it's a real head scratcher as to why. Something changed and his form has dipped.

I think we need to do something really outlandish with him, to try and get him back into form. I reckon we should do the unthinkable and play him in central midfield, just to see what he's like there.

You never know, he might get his early season form back, when something was different..

So much?!

He played 19 times for us in his last season, including 6 times in his last 6 months with us.

Re: Lucas Paquetá
I often wondered towards the end of Paolo's career, why we played him so much as we did. I guess the fact that the fans only seemed to know the Paolo DiCanio songs had a lot to do with it.

Re: Lucas Paquetá
Reminds me a bit of Dicanio.

In that sometimes you wonder what the hell he is playing at only to do something where you go so that why he is in the team.

Obv no where near as good as Dicanio though :-).

Tired...needs a break...

Played in wrong position...not a left winger...wasted there should be central No.10 role...

Moyes is incompetent

I accept it was a bit of a knee jerk thread after travelling back from the game
